Extreme Logistics - The Road to Rushan

In 2005, Lonestar was awarded a contract by the US Humanitarian Agency FOCUS to supply and deliver a tracked excavator to Rushan in the former soviet republic of Tajikistan. Rushan is a small city nestling in the Badakshan region, of the Pamir mountains, and at the best of times, getting there is a game of chance. Most bridges have been washed away, and roads where they exist, are blocked by frequent rock falls.

The task of transporting a 50 ton crawler excavator up the mountains presented us with a logistical nightmare. However our intrepid local staff in Dushanbe rose to the challenge, and as can be seen from the following pictures, delivered the excavator safe and sound to Rushan. Yet one more satisfied customer!!!
